ON TURNING 35 (and EVOLVING THIS BLOG)

Yesterday I turned 35 years old. Do you ever have moments where you kind of go out of body for a moment and just think, holy cow, how did I…

GINGHAM IN CHARLESTON

Happy Thursday from Charleston! We are visiting town this week and enjoying some pretty amazing weather – as in no humidity so my hair is staying a normal size. I love shooting here because the scenery is so charming with so many cute alleyways and winding streets. It’s the perfect place to test out all of my new spring and summer looks! I’m crushing pretty hard on gingham right now, so prepare to see it in a lot of upcoming posts.

GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN – GOOD OR BAD?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about going against the grain and what that does to boost your sense of self and get you closer to the things you want to achieve. Sometimes it works, and others it doesn’t. I’ve always struggled with desperately wanting to be different yet secretly wanting to be accepted by the people around me. I’ve had daydreams of a career on my own yet return to the corporate world again and again when the going gets tough and the money runs out. I will often take big leaps, only to find out I’m actually pretty risk averse. But in my mind, I’m a radical maverick who bucks tradition and laughs in the face of sameness. Hahaha!! Hello, mirror, can I look into you to get a dose of the truth?!

BELLE MEETS WORLD + GAP FACTORY = A DENIM MIRACLE

Sure it’s 90 degrees outside and still officially summer, but I can’t stop daydreaming about fall colors and all the looks I want to try when the weather starts to turn. Among these is the boyfriend jean, a trend that had eluded me (and my hips) until working on this post, and here’s why – I kept trying to actually wear my boyfriend’s jeans. But bulky and loose does not a cute outfit make! Fortunately, I’ve experience a denim miracle thanks to GAP Factory and I need to tell you about it – ASAP.
