This past Sunday was National Hat Day, and in honor of the day, I went hat shopping! It’s pretty rare one can say she went shopping just for a hat. No one wears hats anymore! But I am a certified hat person. They are the PERFECT cover for a bad hair day and add instant style and chicness to any outfit. Every woman should have at least one fabulous hat, and not just a functional one that keeps you warm on a snow day – a real, beautiful, structured hat.
Atlanta keeps threatening to turn to fall but as soon as we get one lovely autumnal day, it’s back to the mid-80s on the next. I’ve had to start playing a game with my outfits where I get to wear some fabulous fall pieces but I have to balance it out by showing a little skin. Now I’m not one to bare it all – I’m simply too old for that and it’s never really been my style – but at the same time, one needs ventilation in the south. Sure it’s 90 degrees outside and still officially summer, but I can’t stop daydreaming about fall colors and all the looks I want to try when the weather starts to turn. Among these is the boyfriend jean, a trend that had eluded me (and my hips) until working on this post, and here’s why – I kept trying to actually wear my boyfriend’s jeans. But bulky and loose does not a cute outfit make! Fortunately, I’ve experience a denim miracle thanks to GAP Factory and I need to tell you about it – ASAP.
This past weekend several friends and I got all dressed up for a (rainy) day at the Arlington Park racetrack in Chicago, and it was so much fun. I highly recommend this weekend activity if you’re looking for ideas to change it up as the weather gets warmer. And if you aren’t near a racetrack, this would be THE weekend of all weekends to host a racing viewing party – it’s the 2015 Belmont Stakes!
